{"id":6370,"date":"2013-12-01T13:41:39","date_gmt":"2013-12-01T20:41:39","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/wordpress.reams.me\/?p=6370"},"modified":"2013-12-01T15:47:38","modified_gmt":"2013-12-01T22:47:38","slug":"second-annual-brewery-tour-weekend","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/wordpress.reams.me\/?p=6370","title":{"rendered":"Second Annual Denver Brewery Tour Weekend"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>For the second year in a row, I hosted some friends from the east coast on a tour of Colorado breweries.<\/p>\n<p>The long weekend begun on Thursday, November 7, 2013 and contained over two dozen check-ins at various breweries, eateries, and coffee shops around the Denver metro area (and Fort Collins).<\/p>\n<p>Thursday consisted of&#8230;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>starting a late lunch at <a href=\"https:\/\/foursquare.com\/v\/euclid-hall-bar--kitchen\/4c586dd96201e21eb79d7a70\">Euclid Hall<\/a>, one of my favorite downtown restaurants with an excellent beer selection<\/li>\n<li>then stopping by <a href=\"https:\/\/foursquare.com\/v\/prost-brewing\/4f63fba1e4b036e3e792341d\">Prost Brewing<\/a> before happy hour (where a lawyer meetup was convening?)<\/li>\n<li>then <a href=\"https:\/\/foursquare.com\/v\/wynkoop-brewing-co-denver-co\/40e0b100f964a5202c041fe3\">Wynkoop Brewing Co.<\/a> for some pre-dinner drinks<\/li>\n<li>then swung by <a href=\"https:\/\/foursquare.com\/v\/lucky-pie-pizza-tap-house-denver-co\/4f451b6ee4b01cb12caff3c0\">Lucky Pie in LoDo<\/a> for some pizza and, yet again, good local beer<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Friday included&#8230;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>a (not early enough) start at <a href=\"https:\/\/foursquare.com\/v\/snooze\/46d3e656f964a5205c4a1fe3\">Snooze<\/a>, one of the busiest but tastiest spots for breakfast and brunch in downtown Denver<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/foursquare.com\/v\/crema\/4b43f479f964a520f4ee25e3\">Crema<\/a>, for a quick hipster-filled caffeine pick-me-up<\/li>\n<li>a tour of the <a href=\"https:\/\/foursquare.com\/v\/stranahans-colorado-whiskey\/4b3d1152f964a520398d25e3\">Stranahan&#8217;s distillery<\/a>, some of the best whiskey made in Colorado<\/li>\n<li>then swinging by <a href=\"https:\/\/foursquare.com\/v\/breckenridge-brewery--bbq\/40e0b100f964a52016031fe3\">Breckenridge Brewery&#8217;s<\/a> 471 Kalamath location for some unique beers<\/li>\n<li>then a stop by <a href=\"https:\/\/foursquare.com\/v\/trve-brewing-co\/4ee2263f4fc6a6fab58d9d4d\">TRVE<\/a> for some hard-core metal brews<\/li>\n<li>followed by a stop-over at <a href=\"https:\/\/foursquare.com\/v\/renegade-brewing-co\/4e07a5a1d22d658532a784d4\">Renegade Brewing<\/a> to have one of my local favorites: <a href=\"http:\/\/www.5280.com\/blogs\/2013\/02\/22\/beer-biz-renegade-redacted\"><strike>REDACTED<\/strike><\/a><\/li>\n<li>a delicious dinner at <a href=\"https:\/\/foursquare.com\/v\/my-brothers-bar\/40e0b100f964a520c0031fe3\">My Brother&#8217;s Bar<\/a>, the oldest continually operating bar in Denver <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Saturday comprised of&#8230;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>a world-class breakfast at <a href=\"https:\/\/foursquare.com\/v\/wooden-spoon\/4c2385d8fbe5c9b6aa8e9b21\">Wooden Spoon<\/a>, one of my favorite bakeries<\/li>\n<li>then a drive up to Fort Collins where we kicked the morning off with world-class coffee at <a href=\"https:\/\/foursquare.com\/v\/harbinger-coffee\/4f036d8e8231bcb7073e1093\">Harbinger Coffee<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/foursquare.com\/v\/equinox-brewing-fort-collins-co\/4bdb056a3c4fef3b6fb9f4bf\">Equinox Brewing<\/a>, a quaint brewery<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/foursquare.com\/v\/coopersmiths-pub--brewing--pubside\/4ad01882f964a52091d720e3\">CooperSmith&#8217;s Pub &amp; Brewing<\/a>, a long-time brewery (before microbrews were trendy)<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/foursquare.com\/v\/funkwerks\/4d37907cb9e5224bd2194c90\">funkwerks<\/a>, one of the best, lesser-known saison specialists<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/foursquare.com\/v\/odell-brewing-company\/4ac13742f964a520469620e3\">Odell<\/a>, with one of the best flagstone &#8220;front yards&#8221; in town<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/foursquare.com\/v\/hogshead-brewery\/4fb30bb7e4b0702bcf44a0ca\">Hogshead Brewery<\/a>, the tastiest cask-aged, English ales this side of the pond<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Sunday wound down with:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>a delicious, early breakfast at <a href=\"https:\/\/foursquare.com\/v\/sassafras-american-eatery\/4fbd1889e4b0d314f1d3db80\">Sassafras<\/a>, quality southern cooking<\/li>\n<li>Crema again, for good measure<\/li>\n<li>a trip to <a href=\"https:\/\/foursquare.com\/v\/epic-brewing-denver\/5111cb84e4b06989652bd0b9\">Epic Brewing<\/a>, the prettiest warehouse and tasting room in River North<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/foursquare.com\/v\/crooked-stave--the-source\/524f36f211d2d39c315063a6\">Crooked Stave at The Source<\/a>, the best sour beers in the best cluster of butchers, bakers, and restaurants in River North<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/foursquare.com\/v\/mile-high-spirits\/4f43f5ee0cd6e77acf3088f9\">Mile High Spirits<\/a>, a great menu of local-made spirits<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/foursquare.com\/v\/our-mutual-friend-malt--brew\/4fa30ee8e4b01ab96b38c775\">Our Mutual Friend<\/a>, with one of my favorite &#8216;session&#8217; beers around<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>All in all, looking back at this list it was a busy weekend with a lot of quality stops along the way.
